Who we are

Over twenty years of integrated expertise in the development of intelligent mechatronic systems.

The synergy

eLYNX was developed through the collaboration of complementary areas of expertise: on one side, optical sensing and measurement electronics; on the other, hydraulic engineering and hydraulic cylinder manufacturing. This synergy makes it possible to develop solutions in which the sensor and the actuator are not separate elements, but parts of a single system designed as an integrated whole.

The collaboration between the two companies allows direct control over every stage of development, from design to application validation, ensuring technical consistency, reliability, and the ongoing evolution of the technology. The result is a mechatronic solution optimized for the real operating conditions of off-highway machines and industrial applications.

Giuliani S.r.l.

Founded in 1954 in Suzzara (MN), Giuliani develops and manufactures hydraulic cylinders for off-highway applications, with production facilities in Italy and India.

The company integrates mechanical, design, and manufacturing expertise to create reliable actuators for heavy-duty applications.

In the eLYNX project, Giuliani developed and patented the integration of optical sensing technology within hydraulic cylinders, resulting in a complete mechatronic solution.

OPTOI S.r.l.

OPTOI is a sensor company founded in Trento in 1995, specializing in the development and production of optical sensors and advanced electronics for industrial applications.

Thanks to its consolidated expertise in optoelectronics, hardware design, and signal processing algorithms, OPTOI creates high-precision measurement solutions for industrial and scientific contexts.

In the eLYNX project, OPTOI contributes its expertise in optical sensors and the development of sensing systems.

Why eLYNX?

eLYNX technology was developed to provide reliable and accurate position sensing directly inside the hydraulic cylinder, overcoming the limitations of external or traditional solutions. Its native mechatronic integration improves the performance of the hydraulic system while reducing complexity and installation criticalities.

Main advantages:

  • Precise and repeatable position measurement
  • Optical technology integrated directly into the piston
  • No rod drilling required
  • No calibration required
  • Plug-in architecture, easy to integrate
  • Immunity to electromagnetic fields
  • IP69 protection for harsh environments
  • No operating pressure limitations
  • Tamper-resistant solution
  • Compatible with the requirements of major OEMs
  • Full system traceability
A technology partner for OEMs

eLYNX is not just a sensing technology, but a solution developed to integrate effectively within hydraulic systems intended for off-highway machines and vehicles. The entire design approach is aimed at meeting OEM requirements, with particular focus on integration, reliability, and performance continuity throughout the machine’s lifecycle.

Technical support covers the different phases of the project, from solution definition to application validation. The combination of optoelectronic and hydraulic know-how enables the development of tailor-made solutions for specific application requirements, ensuring efficient integration into machine control logic.

Quality and reliability

eLYNX technology is the result of more than twenty years of development and well-established application experience on operating machinery and off-highway systems. With approximately one million systems installed worldwide, the solution has been validated under real and continuous operating conditions.

The integrated design of the hydraulic component, sensor, and electronics enables complete control over system quality. The absence of calibration requirements, long-term measurement stability, and resistance to contaminants, vibration, and high-pressure washdowns all contribute to ensuring operational continuity and reducing machine downtime.
